Greater Moncton Water Limited retained Touchie Engineering, a division of R.V. Anderson Associates Limited to design a 113,670 m³ /day Water Treatment Plant. Greater Moncton Water Limited was the successful proponent selected by the City of Moncton to Design/Build/Operate the Treatment Plant for 20 years.
The treatment process of adsorption clarification and multi-media filtration is enhanced by the addition of lime for pH control, potassium permanganate for manganese removal, polyphosphate for corrosion control, caustic soda for pH adjustment and polymer and fluoride.
There are two large lagoons, one with a water surface area of 39,200 m² and one with a water surface area of 32,800 m² , to handle the flow from the clarifier and filter backwash. The effluent from the lagoons is capable of being discharged to the reservoir or Turtle Creek. |
