client: Ingersoll Public Utility Commission
location: Ingersoll, Ontario
project description:
R.V. Anderson Associates Limited was retained to design and administer a contract for two similar new water pumphouses that would meet the water demand created by a large new automotive assembly plant. Each incorporated a 53 L/s well pump, aeration, chlorination, and settling, for hydrogen sulfide and iron removal, and 53 L/s high lift pump.
As a part of the project, a new SCADA system was designed and installed, consisting of Remote Terminal Units (RTU) at each of seven pumphouses and one water tower. A new central computer was installed at the P.U.C. office which now monitors each of the remote RTUs, records alarm and status conditions, and can be used to alter the automotive operation of any of the locations. Subsequent to this project, a full SCADA system was designed and installed for all seven pumphouses and the water tower.
One interesting aspect of the project was the savings in drafting time allowed by the use of CAD. Once the first pumphouse drawings were completed, CAD was used to copy and modify the drawings for the second pumphouse, with a minimum of effort. |
