R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA) provided ongoing services to the Commission to develop a new sewer collection and treatment system to service the Greater Moncton Area. This project resulted in the design and construction of major trunk sewers, a number of pumping stations including the main pumping station (268,000 m³ /d capacity), the design and construction of a chemically assisted primary treatment plant (115,000 m³ /d capacity) and, a 25 tonne per day sludge dewatering facility. Many public consultations were required for project approvals during implementation of the project. RVA provided contract operation during the first few years of the plant operation and continues to provide support in operations, maintenance and training programs.
The project was a collaborative effort with Touchie Engineering of Moncton. The Main Pumping Station received a national "Award of Excellence." The project has met all Commission expectations and was built both on schedule and within budget. The plant is meeting the requirements of Environment New Brunswick.
