R.V. Anderson Associates Limited performed the design and construction administration for a pH neutralization facility at the Etobicoke Brewery of Molson Breweries. Due to the nature of the cleaning process, the pH in the process effluent discharged to the sanitary sewer can reach levels of over 12. The control facility uses a sidestream approach, and injects CO2 into the sidestream at a pressure of 345 kPa. The system is provided with upstream and downstream monitoring, and has a turn down ratio of 10 to 1 on the CO2 injection rate.

Overall project budget of approximately $1 million, including engineering. The system has been operational and has maintained a consistent pH of 9.5 on the process effluent. |
