R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA) were retained to provide stormwater management, site servicing and grading plans, and obtain approvals for a 450 bed student residence on the University Campus. The overall site works consisted of a four-storey building, a surface parking lot and site landscaping. As part of the design build team, RVA prepared the stormwater management report, detail design, provided construction review services and assisted the client in obtaining site plan approval. The area Municipality imposed strict stormwater discharge criteria resulting in the site grading plan incorporating surface storage and rooftop storage, all with a controlled discharge flow rate during storm events. The site bordered on a sensitive environmental area and as such the design and subsequent construction activities minimized the impact on the surrounding area. With the student residence located at the University, construction activities also had to accommodate the ongoing activities and operation of existing roads, pathways and facilities. An existing tunnel system within the University campus required additional routing and alignment of underground facilities. |
