R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA) provided the engineering services for the Highway 69 Twinning from the Musquash River to approximately Tower Road. The project included undertaking the preliminary and detail design of approximately 9 km of Highway 69 to a four-lane freeway facility. The project also included the reconstruction of Highway 69 to freeway standards by twinning, a diamond interchange configuration at Cranberry Marsh Road and at Muskoka Road 12 and a service road connecting the two interchanges. Also included was the removal of the existing bridge over the Musquash River, design of two new three span bridges over the Musquash River, design of a new four span structure over the Moon River and repainting of the existing Moon River Bridge. Two truck layby stations are also included in the project north of the Moon River Bridge. A Schedule 'B' environmental study was undertaken for the project together with a Public Information Centre. Navigable Water approval was obtained for the new bridges at the Moon and Musquash Rivers. A comprehensive construction staging plan was developed to maintain excellent traffic movement through the construction area. The project was a Total Project Management (TPM) which also included undertaking geotechnical and foundation investigations and associated reports, surveying, hydrology study of the Moon River, partial illumination at the interchange and preparation of the property requests. |
