The City of Toronto retained R.V. Anderson Associates Limited to undertake detail design, contract administration and full-time site review for the rehabilitation of this 30 metre single-span precast girder structure over Etobicoke Creek. The bridge is located on the municipal boundary between the Cities of Toronto and Mississauga.
The traffic staging was designed so that rehabilitation could be performed in three stages utilizing all four lanes of traffic to accommodate 33,000 vehicles per day, without any lane closures during construction.
The rehabilitation work involved deck repairs and overlay, abutment repairs and modifications for the elimination of expansion joints, new approach slabs and restoration of channel banks. The project included effective public relations with nearby businesses and residents to minimize impacts of the construction.
