client: Law Development Group
location: CN Rail, Halton Subdivision Mile 24.88, Halton Hills, Ontario
project description:
R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA) was responsible for the design, obtaining approvals, contract administration and site review for this three span, 36 metre long, post-tensioned, double track structure carrying the CN Rail main line over Princess Anne Drive in the Town of Halton Hills (Georgetown), Ontario. RVA proposed a permanent shift in the alignment of the main rail line to avoid the significant cost of constructing a rail detour around the bridge construction site. Rail service was maintained during construction and following completion of the bridge, tracks were relocated to the new alignment. An innovative method of constructing the super-structure on grade was selected rather than utilizing an expensive falsework structure to support the structure during construction. Following post-tensioning, the excavation proceeded for the road construction. The project also included the construction of Princess Anne Drive and a 2.5 metre by 4.5 metres precast concrete box culvert beneath Princess Anne Drive underneath the completed bridge structure.
project status:
The bridge was successfully completed at a cost of $2 million. |
