R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA) was retained by the Region to perform a condition study, structural evaluation and prepare recommendations for the rehabilitation of the bridge structure. Based on the present condition and capacity of the bridge, RVA recommended the appropriate method of rehabilitation be to replace the existing bridge deck and add an additional steel girder. Other recommendations included new parapets and railing, new expansion joints, bearings, and miscellaneous repairs to piers, abutments, and wingwalls. Based on the proposed work scope, construction staging was designed to ensure maintenance of traffic during construction.
