The City of Brantford engaged R.V. Anderson Associates Limited to undertake the design for the replacement of three siphons which crossed the Grand River in the vicinity of the Brantford South Access Road Bridge. Due to the proximity of the downstream water supply of the Six Nation's Band, the directional drilling method of construction was selected to minimize the impact on the river. The design resulted in the installation of two 660 mm High Density Polyethylene siphons, each approximately 400 meters long, installed 5.5 meters below the River bed and extending beyond levees, with the depth under the levees reaching 14 meters.
