client: Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton
location: Ottawa, Ontario
project description:
R.V. Anderson Associates Limited undertook an Infrastructure Needs Study, developed a long term, cost effective rehabilitation strategy for the Collector, prepared tender documents, and provided contract administration and resident inspection services. A cured-in-place liner (in other words, an "Inliner") was installed in 515 meters of 1070mm and 1520 mm diameter sewer and a spiral plastic liner with high strength concrete grout, "Danby" was installed in 265 meters of 1830 mm diameter sewer. The liners were unique in that their design had to meet stringent requirements for both hydraulic and structural conditions. As well, site conditions were difficult and had to be addressed. Some of the more notable were: combined sewers, high wet weather flows, large size of sewer, bypass pumping requirements, infiltration, significant corrosion, pipe out of round, time of year, and significant alignment changes. Many services directly tied to pipe and narrow streets in an older built up residential area.
project status:
The construction was completed in under 4 months for a constructed cost of $1.67 million. |
