project description: R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA) provided engineering services for the completion of a sound level survey in a production area of the facility and the formulation of recommendations for a noise abatement program. Gencorp Vehicle Sealing Division is an automotive parts manufacturer which specializes in extruded rubber products particularly sealing strips around vehicle doors. Throughout the process, noise is generated from the operation of motors, pumps, hydraulically operated equipment, forced air and exhaust fans. RVA's survey involved short and long term noise level monitoring to identify peak noise level areas, peak noise level sources and worker exposure to noise generated from the process operations. Based on the results of the acoustical survey, RVA recommended a noise abatement program to reduce worker exposure to noise.
