R.V. Anderson Associates Limited was retained to complete the pre-design and detailed design, to obtain new certificates of approval (water and air), to act as contract administrator and to conduct site inspections for upgrades to the water pumping station and reservoir. The work included:
- The decommissioning and removal of three existing vertical turbine pumps, motor control centre, control panel, discharge piping and valves;
- The installation of two vertical turbine duty pumps each rated at 35 L/s, a jockey pump rated at 10 L/s, and a diesel-driven fire flow pump rated at 150 L/s.
- The installation of a new motor control centre (MCC), a new control panel with programmable logic controller (PLC) and human machine interface (HMI) with SCADA;
- The installation of stainless steel discharge piping and associated valves;
- The installation of a sodium hypochlorite chlorination system with residual chlorine analyzer;
- The modification of the reservoir pump well, the high pressure cleaning and disinfection of the reservoir, and the refinishing of the inside of the hydropneumatic tank;
- The upgrading of the existing 3 phase, 600 volt transformers to accommodate the increased electrical loads.
project status: The project was completed for a total construction cost of $435,000 including GST. |
