project description:
R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA) undertook the complete design and start-up of the Clarkson WPCP 56,000 m³/d secondary treatment plant expansion and upgrade, for a total rated plant capacity of 165,000 m³/d. The expansion included a retrofit of the existing aeration system from coarse to fine pore diffusers, secondary clarification with rapid sludge removal, extension to the blower building, upgrade of both the digestion and disinfection facilities, and the installation of a SCADA system. The design approach was to integrate the new equipment with the existing configuration, and significant attention was paid to energy savings. Care was taken to ensure proper scheduling for uninterrupted operation of the plant during construction. The project demonstrated RVA's capability to develop an energy efficient, reliable aeration system designed to meet effluent discharge criteria, and ensure economical operation and energy savings.
