R.V. Anderson Associates Limited was retained to provide complete architectural design and all other building services including structural, mechanical and electrical engineering. This small but monumental church of 750 m² was designed in a traditional Byzantine style in order to address the community's desire for a building that would serve as an identifiable symbol of their history. Roofs were layered to match the scale of the surrounding neighbourhood, and the interior space was designed to give the impression of an ancient massive structure, while using modern materials. Windows inside the church were kept to a minimum in order for the light entering from the small windows of the cupola to have a dramatic effect. |
