The Regional Municipality of Durham has received the Ontario Public Works Association’s Project of the Year Award in the Environment Category over $10 million for the Courtice Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), a new facility with a daily, Phase one capacity of 68,200 cubic metres.
R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA) provided detailed design and services during construction for the new marine outfall to Lake Ontario, consisting of 950 m of 1650 mm diameter Concrete Pressure Pipe with a 180 m diffuser section.
RVA was also responsible for preparing an environmental management plan, and providing assistance in obtaining approvals including those from Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Coast Guard, Ministry of Natural Resources and the local Conservation Authority.
