Flood Studies
Hydro-Com Technologies Limited has the capabilities to perform both small (residential home) and large scale (river and floodplain) flood studies. Flooding can be caused by such factors as heavy rainfall (and snowmelt), river ice jams, high tides combined with storm surges, and development within a watershed. Although it is often difficult to predict when the above factors may occur, it is important to be aware of the potential risks and effects of flooding. The benefits of performing proactive flood studies include the prevention of the potential loss of life or injury, as well as the prevention (or minimizing) of damage to property.
Our staff has the experience and technical expertise to perform flood studies and routinely performs the following services:
- Estimation of the flood stages for a watercourse
- Identification/development of measures to mitigate and minimize the risk of flood damage
- Assessment of the potential impacts of river ice on the flood regime
- The performance of dambreak/floodwave assessments
