Corporate Communications & Marketing Co-ordinator

R.V. Anderson Associates Limited is an employee-owned, multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm established in 1948.  The firm specializes in infrastructure and the environment, with 200 staff in eight offices located throughout Ontario, New Brunswick, and Mumbai, India.  The company was recently selected as one of Canada’s 50 best managed companies.

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, marketing-oriented individual based in our Toronto office, to coordinate the firm’s marketing and business development activities.

 

Candidates should have training and experience in planning and writing corporate communications, executing marketing strategies and ensuring corporate brand consistency. Background knowledge of professional engineering services would be an asset.

 

Job Description:

 

Corporate Communications and Marketing Materials 

  • Coordinating and writing marketing materials and collateral, including project profiles, capability sheets, brochures, yearly client mailing, HR communications, etc.

  • Planning and developing corporate business development presentations

  • Writing educational communications and best practices focusing on industry trends

  • Composing awards submittals

  • Updating and writing copy for corporate website and intranet

  • Coordinating and updating social media marketing activities, including the corporate Facebook and Twitter sites, working closely with the information management team

  • Coordinating client webcast events using WebEx, including communications and promotion, content development, and event moderation

  • Coordinating formal project photography

 

Advertising 

Working closely with other members of the corporate support team:

  • Researching and maintaining editorial calendars for external advertising and artwork submission due dates

  • Copywriting and editing for corporate advertisements

  • Planning, purchasing, and maintaining promotional items

  • Maintaining records of published advertisements

 

Public / Media Relations  

  • Liaising with industry media to profile the firm’s projects

  • Composing and coordinating press releases and company announcements

  • Writing abstracts, case studies, and project backgrounders

  • Assisting with editing / proofreading technical articles for trade publications

  • Maintaining records of published news items

  • Updating the firm’s yearly Public Relation plan

 

Internal Communications and Information Systems  

  • Providing support to the proposal production team as and when required

  • Coordinating and assisting in the development of internal Business Development presentations

  • Assisting the professional development coordinator with development of internal training and orientation sessions

  • Participating as a member of the firm's knowledge management focus group, providing assistance with strategy, execution of tactics, and appropriate content development of the firm's knowledge management system

  • Participating on corporate social and United Way committees

 

Business Development and Competitive Intelligence Research  

  • Assisting the Market Researcher with the analysis and distribution of intelligence research in support of business development goals and activities

Qualifications: 

  • 3 years of experience in a related role

  • Effective communicator; both verbal and written

  • Extremely strong interpersonal skill; Flexible with the ability to work with staff at all levels in the company, independently or in a team environment

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity with MS Visio and MS Project would be an asset

  • Basic to Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator - CS4)

  • Intermediate knowledge of Dreamweaver with a good understanding of HTML and CSS

  • Proven knowledge of social media applications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of enterprise wide knowledge management and content management systems

  • Extremely organized, and detail oriented

  • Entrepreneurial, confident and a self-starter with the ability to take initiative

  • Ability to use judgement and common sense in decision making

  • Ability to write persuasive copy and edit in general conformance with The Canadian Style guide / Chicago Manual of Style

  • Thrives in a dynamic, fast paced, high-pressure environment

  • Ability to work overtime, when required
