Human Resources Assistant (Toronto)

R.V. The HR Assistant will support the Manager, Human Resources in developing and implementing HR programs, policies, practices and procedures.

 

Job Description:

 

Recruiting:

 

  • Assist with the recruitment process as required by screening résumés, conducting pre-screening phone interviews, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks
  • Conducts new employee orientation 

 

Compensation:

 

  • Help with completing annual salary surveys 

 

Health & Safety:

  • Administration of the company Health & Safety program

 

Employee Relations:

 

  • Act as a resources on HR issues for staff and management.  Provides guidance in all areas of HR, leave and benefit administration and policy interpretation
  • Research employment and labour legislation

 

Other Duties:

 

  • Assist the Manager, Human Resources with special projects as assigned
  • Provide support for events such as Employee Parties, Take Your Kids To Work Day, United Way Campaign
  • Ensure HR materials are up to date and accessible on the website and intranet

Qualifications:

  • Two years experience in a Human Resources environment
  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources
  • High degree of discretion, judgement and decision making ability
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with a high degree of comfort with Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extremely organized with a keen eye to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, service oriented department
  • Available to work overtime, when required
